Los Angeles Planning Commission
Hearing on Ponte Vista

Held on Thursday, April 9th 2010
8:30 am
Los Angeles City Hall, 200 North Spring Street
City Council Chamber, Room 340 (Third Floor)
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Thanks to everyone who showed up and provided support for R-1. Though we have won a victory (of sorts) the process still carries on and it remains for us to still put our footprint on what the final development becomes. It behooves us to continue to provide input to the Planning Department and to Janice Hahn. Let them know in no uncertain terms that smaller is better for the quality of life of present as well as future residents

The Los Angeles City Planning Commission has ruled to deny the 1950 unit application, the tract map vesting and certifying the EIR. It's back to the drawing board for the developer and a chance for people to provide more input into the process.

In the meanwhile, you should still continue to  email to james.k.williams@lacity.org at the Planning Commission, with a copy to Janice Hahn (janice.hahn@lacity.org) asking the City to not abandon the current R-1 zoning and to build a project that fits the location in terms of size and density.

The Committee issues its final report. They have rejected Bob Bisno's proposals of 2300 and 1950 units, did not reach a consensus on an alternative plan and, as a result, recommended that the project density conform to R-1 zoning currently in place.

The first battles are done and won, but the war is far from over. We continue to collect signatures and move the campaign to downtown Los Angeles with the planning department, planning commission and city council the next objectives.
